When does helping hurt in short term missions?

Acts of JOY is excited to announce a whole new paradigm shift from traditional short term missions (going from one country to another; putting band aids on problems but never seeing any lasting change, to a whole new way of achieving long lasting, sustainable life changes in impoverished communities; by giving a hand up instead of a hand out; by empowering instead of enabling through Community Health Evangelism.

If you plan for a year, plant a seed. If for ten years, plant a tree. If for a hundred years, teach the people. When you sow a seed once, you will reap a single harvest. When you teach the people, you will reap a hundred harvests.

Mission:

To promote & facilitate wholistic health and well-being in impoverished, limited access communities throughout the world, one village at a time.

Purpose:

We are passionately committed to wholistic missions in the name of Jesus. We believe that practical action and prayer are equally indispensable for transforming lives physically, socially and spiritually.

It is our desire to help impoverished communities identify their health needs and develop life changing, sustainable solutions based on their culture & their resources in order to achieve and maintain independence from outside sources.
